First Financial Bank has announced it will host a food drive throughout October to support local families in need. The bank will be collecting canned and nonperishable boxed food from October 6 through October 31.

Donation bins will be set up at the bank's two financial centers in Bloomington, located at 536 North College Avenue and 3205 East Third Street.

After the drive concludes, bank associates will deliver the collected items to local partner organizations for distribution within the community.

Who Can Register: The program is open to boys and girls in grades K-8th. All skill levels are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary.

Purdue Extension-Orange County will host Chef University for local youth in grades 3–5 from Oct. 15–17 at the 4-H Fairgrounds Block Building. The program runs daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is designed to give students hands-on experience in the kitchen.

Chef University will feature lessons in healthy cooking, kitchen skills, and international foods, all taught in a fun, interactive environment. Organizers say the program helps participants gain confidence in preparing meals while learning the importance of nutrition and cultural variety.

Registration is $15 and is due by Oct. 10. The class is limited to 25 participants, with a minimum of 10 required. Cost assistance is available for families who may need it. Participants may register online at ChefUfall25.4honline.com.

The Arthritis Foundation is offering its "Walking With Ease" program, a free, community-based initiative designed to help individuals with arthritis manage chronic pain and improve their mobility. The program is also aimed at combating social isolation through regular group walking activities.

The first session runs from September 8 to October 17, and the second session is from October 20 to November 26. All classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Participants will meet at the Switchyard Park Picnic Shelter, located by the playground. Each one-hour session includes an active warm-up, stretching, health education, and a guided walk on the B-Line Trail. The walks are instructor-led, and the length and difficulty are tailored to each participant, with walking times ranging from 20 to 40 minutes per session. 
For weather-related updates, participants can call the Community Events Hotline at 812-349-3754. The program is entirely free to attend.

IU Health Paoli Hospital provides Free HIV and Hepatitis C walk-in testing every Monday at the IU Health Paoli Hospital. Testing is located in the Professional Building from 1pm-4pm.

TOPS is a weight loss support group that meets every Wednesday at Church of Christ Southland. Weigh-in starts at 9:30am. The support meeting starts at 10. Every second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm EST - Southern Indiana Dementia Caregiver Support Group is offered by the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana.  Pre-registration is preferred but not required.  Contact Diana Matthews at 812-276-4270 or via email at dmatthews4@iuhealth.org  Build a support system with people who understand.  Alzheimer's Association support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for care partners of those living with dementia to:

The Arthritis Foundation is offering its "Walking With Ease" program, a free, community-based initiative designed to help individuals with arthritis manage chronic pain and improve their mobility. The program is also aimed at combating social isolation through regular group walking activities.

The first session runs from September 8 to October 17, and the second session is from October 20 to November 26. All classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Participants will meet at the Switchyard Park Picnic Shelter, located by the playground. Each one-hour session includes an active warm-up, stretching, health education, and a guided walk on the B-Line Trail. The walks are instructor-led, and the length and difficulty are tailored to each participant, with walking times ranging from 20 to 40 minutes per session.

IU Health Paoli Hospital provides Free HIV and Hepatitis C walk-in testing every Monday at the IU Health Paoli Hospital. Testing is located in the Professional Building from 1pm-4pm.

TOPS is a weight loss support group that meets every Wednesday at Church of Christ Southland. Weigh-in starts at 9:30am. The support meeting starts at 10. Lawrence County Rock Club meets at The Mixing Bowl (641 X St, Bedford IN) on the first Saturday of each month at 6:00 pm. Visitors are welcome.
This is an educational organization with programs dealing with rocks at club meetings. Bring your rock to be identified.
